Blown-In Insulation Photo Album: Dense Packing, Air Seal, and Blown-in Insulation in Oak Island, NC 28465
This homeowner in Oak Island, NC 28465 was noticing that a lack of insulation in walls and in the attic were causing uncomfortable temperatures inside. Our crew went in to dense pack the walls of the home with blown-in cellulose insulation which was also used to insulate the attic. Before the blown-in cellulose was placed in the attic, an air seal was performed with a polyurethane expanding foam that stops air from flowing through open areas of the home.
Air Seal
During an air seal, a polyurethane expanding foam is prayed around fixtures and walls that air may flow freely through. This eliminates air leaks from the home.

After the air seal, cellulose insulation is blown into the space to help keep inside temperatures, inside.

Small holes are cut into the side walls of the home and are filled with insulation from the foundation up.
