Attic Insulation in Moncks Corner, SC
Challenge
A Moncks Corner Homeowner called Carolina Energy Conservation to have a whole home Energy Evaluation. Monck Corner is located just north west of Charleston, South Carolina, and is know for it's low country culture and lake life. We found the home's attic insulation below standard at only a R19. In South Carolina a wall's insulation is to be R-19 and a roof's insulation is to be R-30.
Solution
What does "R" mean? Essentially R-value is a measure of thermal resistance, or the ability to prevent the transfer of heat. The larger the number, the harder that insulation is working at preventing heat conduction. We offered the Homeowner peace of mind by replacing the leaking fiberglass batts and upgrading the home to our cellulose blown insulation at the right depth to keep the home comfortable, wasting less HVAC heat and air and the added bonus of providing approved fire-resistance protection.
